14 Day Amongst Living Deserts Guided Mobile Safari
This safari is based in the heart of the Kalahari region and is a combination of Kgalagadi, Mabuasehube and Central Kalahari. It is partly a 4 x 4 trail and we will require 2 vehicles at all times to ensure or crossing of the wilderness trail towards Mabuasehube and Central Kalahari. The Combinations of the Kalahari will guide us in this vast open land of this very unique semi – desert of the Kalahari.

Day 1,2,3: Upington/Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (L.D) Accommodated
Day 4: On route to Mabuasehube/Motopi (B.L.D)  Camping
Day 5,6: Mabuasehube (B.L.D) Camping
Day 7,8: Ghanzi - (B. L.D) Tented Camp  - Fixed tents with ensuites
Day 9,10,11,12: Central Kalahari (B. L.D) Camping  
Day 13: Maun -  Scenic flight over Okavango Delta (B.L.D) Lodge / Hotel

Day 14: Tour ends after Breakfast (B)

Day 1, 2, 3: Upington / Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (B.L.D) – Accommodated
We collect our fellow travellers from their accommodation in Upington and we start our safari north towards the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. We will be staying the park for the next 3 days. Our first day is a scenic transfer of 4 hours along the sand dune belt towards the park. Our destination is the main camp at Twee Rivieren from where we will be launching our first Game drive of our safari. This is the point where the two rivers meet. The following days will be spent game driving in the Kgalagadi Park and we will make our last night’s accommodation near Nossob Camp. 300 km – 4 hours

Day 4, 5, 6: Mabuasehube (B.L.D) – Camping
We will be crossing the dune belt for next 3 days towards the Botswana part of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier park. The dune belt crossing of Mabua is a true wild experience and our next 3 nights will be spending camping in the wild without any fences around our bush camps. The pans of Mabua will be our destination in search of the Kalahari predators. 150 Km – 6- 7 Hours

Day 7, 8: Ghanzi (B.L.D) – Tented Camp (our 1st night will be dinner at own expense at our camp)

This safari will take us to the northern part of the Mabuasehube Transfrontier park, before we take some two spoor track roads towards civilisation. Our day is an early start and a late afternoon arrival in Ghanzi. We will be staying in Ghanzi for the next two nights to resupply our stocks and to prepare for central Kalahari. You will also have the chance to visit a bushman community before the final preparations for central is made. 450 Km (7-8 Hours)

Day 9, 10, 11, 12: Central Kalahari (B.L.D) – Camping

Central Kalahari will be our base for the next 4 nights. This is the last leg of our living desert Kalahari experience. The mere size of Central Kalahari and the vast open plains will guide us towards our wild camps for the next 4 nights. We will be exploring Deception Pan, leopard pan, passage pan and mopippi. Entering the central Kalahari Park from Ghanzi will take us at least 8 hours to travel the 250 km to reach our camp destinations. 250 Km 6-8hours.

Day 13, 14: Maun (B.L) – Tented Camp Accommodation

Our final journey of the Amongst Living Desert Safari will come to an end in Maun the most southern Town of the Okavango Delta. We will reach Maun in the early afternoon on day 1 to relax and enjoy the comforts of our chosen camp’s facilities. Our evening will be spent having a final feast and enjoying the memories of our Cross Kalahari expedition. The following morning you will embark on a scenic flight over the Okavango Delta that feeds the Kalahari Basin with a lifeline of water on a yearly base. – Tour will end after your return from your scenic Flight. 300 km 7 hours.

When is a good time?  12 months of the year

When is Rainy season?  Nov – April, great for seeing big herds, birth of antelopes, dramatic sunsets

Is there Malaria?  Only towards the Okavango in Maun

Does it get hot & cold?  Summer up to 45°C and winter down to – 8°C

Can I book a private trip?  Yes you may, we are flexible to accommodate your interests and budget

What star rating is accommodation?  2 – 3 star rating

Do you cater for vegetarians or special diets?   Yes we do, please stipulate your diet on your reservation form

Is the Camping Comfortable? – Yes we supply two man dome tents, stretcher beds, mattresses and bush toilets and bush showers.

Can I Extend My visit to Kasane, Victoria Falls, Okavango Delta?  - Yes our reservations team can assist you with some accommodation and activity options for your extended stay in Botswana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
